First of all, I would like to welcome you in the Literary World. Being capable of expressing feelings in the form of words is itself an achievement. Here, at WordCurd we would like you to express your feelings and experience as a writer, reader and as a human.
- And now as you have entered this world, how do you feel being a member of it?
I feel extremely privileged but however I sometimes feel disappointed to see and experience the messiness in this world which becomes the greatest reason for people to hate this literary world. Anyway, this world carries ample chances, challenges and failures which become a zeal in me to rise and grow the most.
- What made you think that your book is different from others? What makes your book special that reader should pick it?
The book includes a message in it which can bring self realization in the readers. And according to me, self realization is the greatest weapon to correct the peculiarity and unevenness of the society we live in. Readers like books which can be much relatable to them, and I think my book serves this purpose.
- While writing this book what were your expectations from the book? Were you sure that this book could give wings to your writing career?
My only expectation was to bring or generate a change in people’s mindset with the help of a sweet, simple and understandable love story. I don’t know what the book has in its fate. Yet, let’s hope for the best.
- What do you think of writing as a career? What importance does literature plays in your life?
Well, writing has always been my passion. It’s the only way I can release my stress, frustration and evilness. Clearly when your passion becomes your profession you can do great wonders. But unfortunately the circumstances and people around me won’t support me to take up writing as a career because this is India and here a child is born to be either engineer or doctor. Moreover, I think that family support plays an vital role in taking writing as your career which I lack a lot.
- What according to you is the best way to connect to the readers? Words shooting from heart, an extraordinary story or something else?
A realistic story and relatable story can win the hearts of readers and can connect them to you. - Now as your debut book arrives in the market, what do you expect from your readers?
I expect readers to pick my book to read and give me feedback on it. I would love to acknowledge each and every feedback I get from people. Because as a beginner, feedbacks and ways to improve is my ladder to reach the pinnacle of success.
- When you were in the initial phase of the writing journey, what obstacles you faced as a debutant author?
Rejections from publisher could put me low so much that at times I used to feel that I should give up writing, but since the starting of this book until its publishing, the lines, which kept me inspired and alive, are:
“The woods are lovely dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep!”
- What do you think is the purpose of your writing? What difference does writing makes to your life?
If not writing, then what?
Writing is a way of living for me. That’s all I can say.
- Does at any stage you feel like leaving the script in the halfway. Who would you like to give the credit of being a constant supporter?
No one in my house believed that I was seriously writing a book. Sometimes there were criticism, and sometimes there were encouragement. I would like to thank my family for their all criticism which brought zeal in me and their encouragement which brought happiness in me.
- What do you usually prefer-pen, typewriter or computer?
Computer is what I prefer. Its faster and giving me ample time to put my emotions in writing form as soon as possible. My laptop is my everything. I would have probably married my laptop if it could be a guy.
- Every journey teaches us a lesson. What are the lessons you’ve learnt while penning your books?
Never stop hoping. Life gives you numerous chances and sometimes you need to give uncountable chances to life. That’s all what I learned.
- Tell us about your latest book.
Do the looks of a person matter in a true relationship? Why does a relationship end? Just because the redundant questions of the society can't be answered? What would you feel when you meet that one person, whom you had left once upon a time, for the sake of his happiness in this ever-judging world, but whose actual happiness was in you, something you didn't understand then. How would you react when you have to choose either one of two important things? Can life always give you a second chance? The story revolves around Ishanvi, a chubby girl. Everyone likes her, but only a few love her. Her looks are not appealing, whereas, her heart is of gold. She always puts herself behind others. She thinks of the world before contemplating about herself. What will happen when she gets into a relationship with a guy who is the dream man of every girl? Read the book to find answers to these questions, which, one day, you may ask yourself in life.
- Does anyone else write in your family or anyone who loves books?
No. No one in my family likes writing. I belong from a family full of doctors and engineers. But, I had heard from my mom that I maternal grandpa used to write a lot. Maybe I got this quality of mine in inheritance from him.
- Tell us about the best compliment you’ve ever received and the criticism given to you as an author.
There are so many. It’s difficult recalling the best one because I take every compliment and criticism in a positive way.
- How much your stories are influenced from real-life stories?
A lot. It’s much influences from real life stories.
- These days every author wants to come in the list of ‘Best-selling Authors’? What do you think about it?
I don’t want to get into that. But I want my works to get into ‘best selling works’. That should be a real author’s dream.
- Tell us something about your five year goal. Where do you see yourself as a writer in five years?
Yes. I have a clear plan of establishing myself as a writer in five year. But anyhow, it won’t be a career for me as of now.
- If given an opportunity, would you like to be a full-time writer?
I would never step back from this opportunity if it could fulfill my needs and other parameters.
- How much time do you take to complete a novel? Is ‘patience’ the keyword to become a successful author?
It took a year for me to jot down a novel. Yeah, patience plays an important role because at points you will feel like your story is not going good and few things will pull you back.
- What is the motive of your writing? Does your work fall under some special category?
My motive is very clear. I get happiness from writing and I want to change the strange and wrong mindset of society. I am a part of the society, and its my responsibility to bring a change. And this change is through self realization of people about their faults. I can’t force people to change. But self realization will act as an invisible force on them to change for the betterment.
- Last, but most important question readers would want to know- Are you working on another book? If yes, how different is this from your last work?
Yes. I am working on my second book. It will again be a love story but very different from the usual ones. It has so many turns and twists. Let’s see what destiny brings for me.
