F. R. I. E. N. D. S, the first image this word creates in my mind is -all the five characters hanging out at Central Perk, teasing each other. Then, enters a girl ,dressed as a bride who changes their lives and becomes an inseparable part of the family. And here ,starts the show which creates a history not only on Television but in our lives as well.
F.R.I.E.N.D.S has a special place in my heart. Not just beacuse it makes me laugh my heart out but because of how I can relate to it so much. We all have that that'Monica' in our lives, a friend who is a perfectionist. A Joey who is always cracking jokes but is not dumb, just a bit stupid and always after girls. A Chandler who always has something sarcastic to say. I fall in this category. Though mine are more like taunts. A Phoebe who is kind of weird but in a good way. Andhas, a smelly cat. Rachel, who might not know who is running for the President, but definitely knows everything about fashion. Ross, the nerd. One Ross is always there in every group. And yes as fate would have it, opposites attract. Ross falls for the fashion queen and becomes her lobster. And how can I forget about Janice and Gunther. An irritating girl with vexing laughter and the geek who cannot confess his love.
If you will ask me what I love about F.R.I.E.N.D.S, I’ll say everything. I mean what is not there to love. I loved how all their friendship grew. How they dealt with the problems together. This sitcom does give us some major friendship goals.
We all knew from the beginning that Ross and Rachel were destined to be together, but when the makers decided to bring Rachel and Joey together, it didn’t seem wrong. We love Ross when he lets Rachel win poker or dresses up to go to prom with her, when her date ditches her. It was always evident that they are each other’s lobsters. Monica and Chandler represent you can find love even in the most unexpected person. And if you put a little effort you can do wonders in your relationship. Though its the same cliché, best friends falling in love. But doesn’t that seem right. I mean who else to spend your entire life other than your own best friend. Mr. Darcy is the dream guy of many girls, but Chandler does give him competition in that case. Some people feel that Phoebe and Joey should have ended together. I don’t agree. Phoebe and Mike were perfect for each other. And we all know Joey is better off single.
Joey was my favourite character, because with that face and “HOW YOU DOING?” who can resist him. When time demanded all the friends have done some deed for the other which brings happy tears in our eyes. But Joey seems to have outdone others. Just to evoke your memories, I would like to present a few examples. Remember when Joey fell in love with Rachel when she was pregnant. He barely could stop thinking about her and it was more difficult because they were living together. And how for Ross, he advised Rachel to shift with Ross as he felt left out. That scene was a tearjerker. I fell in love with him head over heels. We all felt bad for Joey when Chandler moved out. They had the best friendship ever. And it left me saddened when all the friends came to know that Monica and Chandler are shifting to a new apartment. That meant no Thanksgiving at Monica’s. Amongst all the Thanksgiving parties they celebrated together, the one in which Brad Pitt starred was my favourite. The final episode of the series left a few tears in our eyes when we saw those six keys kept on the kitchen table.
I’ll never forget “Smelly cat, smelly cat what are they feeding you” or “OH MY GOD”. I’ll always remember “We were on a break’’ or “Joey doesn’t share food”. I’ll never forget “I know’’ or “I’m not great at advice. But can I interest you in a sarcastic comment.’’
I would like to say to my favourite sitcom, “I’ll be there for you coz you’re there for me too”.
