Title : Ramayana The
Game of Life
Author : Shubha Vilas
Blurb : In the evil labyrinths of Dandakaranya forest, human values are put to
test. Rama’s righteousness, Lakshmana’s loyalty and Sita’s endurance reflect
our own sense of values and judgment in difficult times. The story unfolds the
facets of human life – the conflict and the trickery, the praise and the
slander and, above all, the hope and the despair in the eventful forest life of
the Exiled Royals.
Stolen Hope is about
extreme deception and extreme love. It is about arrogant power and deep
devotion. With every twist and turn, Rama, Sita and Lakshmana find themselves
robbed of whatever and whoever they value most.
Exploring the dynamics
of human relations – between father and son, husband and wife, teacher and
disciple – and the complex game of power and greed, Stolen Hope mirrors our own
dilemmas in the modern world and teaches us how we must overcome them.
Seek courage when
everything, including hope, is stolen.

My View : As the title suggests the book will take you to the journey
of Ramayana. The whole book deals with Ram’s life and tells the saga of his
life and people related to him. The book is the third part i.e. Stolen Hope ;
the earlier two parts are - Ramayana : The rise of the Sun Prince or the
Ramayana : Shattered Dreams. We have been told about Ramayana since childhood and
the book is also a version of Ramayana and will take its reader to different
aspects which a reader may be unaware of; the book has many things to discover.
At the beginning the summary of earlier two books are given so it will be easy
for the readers to understand what has happened so far.
The beginning of the story illuminates the history of Dandakaranya;
a forest. After then the story revolves around Ram, Sita and Lakhsman’s life
and their day to day activities. The story ends with the abduction of Sita by
Ravan. All the episodes are very beautifully played in the book; author has
done a good job in his book. I was glued to the book in no time. The narration
of the book is smooth and the writing style is simple providing an easy read
for the novice readers.
There are footnotes at the bottom of the pages which are very
catchy and always filled me with the excitement and prod me to read more. Scrutinizing
the things and then whelming them in the book accurately is a bit difficult
task; author has portrayed so many facets about Ramayana in the book and a
reader can locate this while tracing out the reading track. A reader will get
an opportunity to address various facts of Ramayana. Some of the parts of the
book are too stretched which makes the book pace slow.
All in all a fascinating Read! Looking forward to read the
next series. Highly recommended to mythological readers.
