Blurb: There is a wonderful saying: “The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.”In this highly competitive world, life of corporate work-force is full of all kinds of strain and stress. There is no way we can escape
from our jobs and its work pressure, but we can certainly counter it by enriching the fun and laughter quotient at work. 65 Colours of Rainbow is a collection of sixty-five short stories and caricatures based on real life, work-related incidents. This pleasingly warm collection writes with terrifying compassionabout the things that matter most. The distinctive narrative caricatures demonstrate how extraordinary the ordinary can be!!
My View : Think of corporate, and what gets populated in your head is deadlines, pressure, responsibilities and what not. Ever happened, thinking of a corporate life, and a curve of smile popping on your face. If not, then, I would suggest you to pick Smit Kapila's debut book '65 Colours of Rainbow'.
65 stories of corporate world, not just stories but witty ones! The light and cheerful events you might have encountered with your colleagues in the office of different sorts and nature are portrayed by Smit. Most of them are very relatable and are very good in nature, you just can't stop the curve to occur, while I would like to put some in the category of 'okay'.
As the stories are very short in length, I couldn't hold on to the moment and relate completely to it. For the first few stories, I just read them and went ahead. But then, as I was not able to hold on to the moment, I started to imagine all of that happening to one of my colleagues, and then it made sense to me, and ofcourse that curve started to appear. Try harder to imagine all of the stories with your peers, and you would enjoy reading the book.
And yes, the caricatures. How can I not talk about them. Smit has himself worked on all of them, and who could've done more justice to them than the author himself. I like their presence, and count them as a cherry on the cake.
It is a quick read and a delightful one. I would like to mention some which I found the best : Feedback, The Badge, The Pronounciation. Read to find out what comes in your favourite list.
