Review of Stirred but not shaken

Title: Stirred But Not Shaken

Author: Deep Shiva

Blurb:

Mohit came to Delhi from a small town to make it big. He is quite
sorted, with a comfortable place to stay, a well-paying job, and a few
friends and loved ones. Despite that, he is quite stirred by the way
things happen in the city. When he bags a job in a multinational ad
agency, he does not know that getting a job and keeping it are two very
different ball games.
Natasha is stunningly beautiful and overly ambitious, and their lives
get entangled when she falls for him. But is this true love, or is there
something more to it?
Parvathi helps him and guides him through the maze that the workplace
is. A dusky beauty with a free spirit, she feels love is an overrated
emotion and all men are the same.
When bosses and colleagues toss him around, it will take Mohit a lot
more than just friends and love to stay Stirred But Not Shaken.

My Views:

'Stirred but not shaken' shows an ugly face of the corporate world with an emotional touch. When I tried to recapitulate the story, I realized that Deep had a good story-line with him, it was just the time he provided to the characters which made them run with a great speed to cover the story. He played with words quite well. His words didn't pose as an obstruction in the flow of the story. He described the incidents with such simplicity that reader could easily involve in the matters of his concern.

I found a good storyline in this book. Talking about the first half, the pace was slow and I was served with more of his(the protagonist) witty content and his life to the corporate world. The real story begins in the second half, which paced at a great speed. I wanted to spend more time in this part, as it went emotional reaching towards the end. I wanted to feel close to the characters, so as to feel as they are me, not just the characters of the story. If some more depth was given to the second half, I would've fallen for the story, because of the way it turned out. In the second half, his wit started to fade, as he really fell into shit, but that was where I found the story, the real and interesting one! Before that, I was only enjoying his clever comments on several episodes.

His witty remarks on several episodes offer a great deal to the readers. The deal to keep on reading and keep on munching witty nuts! Our protagonist goes through the tough time in his corporate life, but he never forgets to leave humorous notes for his readers. This book can easily light your mood with the clever satires festooned in nearly every episode. I loved to read how he thinks of an ordinary situation in an imaginative way, juxtaposed with another event, and proposes them using great words. If not for the story, I could've read his words just for the small pieces endorsed with satires.

A good book with a simple story! Suitable for readers who are happy with short-lengthed books and don't like to have in-depth details. A quick and a light-read!
