Title : Then The Door Bell Rang

Author : Capri Jalota

Blurb : One fine morning, Jane wakes up and stands upon the ledge of her 18th floor flat in Dubai Marina. Till a few years back, she was everything that would make anyone jealous – beautiful, rich and successful. But then the wheels of time turned. Today, she is miserable and lonely. Then the Doorbell Rang is about Jane’s roller-coaster journey as she explores the mystical phenomenon called Life.

My View :

To me or maybe to some of the readers, there pose an issue with the thickness of the book. Most of the Indian fictions roam around 200 pages. Reading a thicker book is sort of a challenge. Especially when it comes from a newbie. I was a bit afraid before starting 'Then the Door Bell Rang', and once I rang the doorbell, I couldn't see any escape. When I was nearing towards the end, what all I wished for was some more pages, some more emotions and some more from the characters. I literally found myself in the shoes of the protagonist.

It is not the length of the book readers are actually afraid of. They are afraid of the unnecessary contents that are elongated with no sense. When we talk about this book, there were no such details I could tag as irrelevant. Capri maintains the dignity of the story, by keeping every element of story-telling in a balanced way.

Capri's writing style is so charming that I was just so into his words and the world he has created. His style of story-telling really impressed me. Very few have the prowess to catch me in the pool of words. Capri sure has that!Capri drew suspense in the very beginning, and with that suspense, in hand, he continued to charm with his words.

There are two sides of each story; understanding one's perspective is easy - but trying to understand someone else's perspective is rather difficult. With this theme silvered around the story, one could make sense of each word he uses. There is a beautiful story to this book, and to justify to the story there is Capri's soothing story-telling art.
