Title: Unbudgeted Innocence
Author: Gaurav Sharma
Blurb: Childhood is like a fairy tale. No worries, no tension, and no anger. Life is easy and simple- incredible
energy, queer enthusiasm, fleeting joys, and earnest curiosity. Our smiles are important, at least to our
parents. The unfilled brain is eager to gather everything it comes across.
Childhood is innocence personified. Even the vices like greed, jealousy, and naughtiness are innocent
during that period.
UNBUDGETED INNOCENCE is a collection of ten stories withholding all the elements of the raw
humanism in a child- they err easily, they think everything is easy and achievable, their inability to
pretend love or hatred, their unpredictable and restless focus, their zeal for adventure, love for animals,
the purity of friendship, and their unadulterated guilt after committing a mistake.
These stories embellish the fact that innocence can’t be ‘budgeted’. It invariably goes beyond the
estimates despite constraints. That’s how a child learns life.
All of us have lived these stories or will live them.
My View:
'UnBudgeted Innocence', comprises of short stories which are a dedication to our childhood memories. Or we can say that these are written for children who by reading these stories can comprehend their actions, and learn more about life.
I would like to put light on some of the stories, rest I leave onto you guys to discover them.
The Abandoned Dog: Dogs are considered to be humans' best and loyal friend. A story that tied a family to a street dog who soon became a part of their family.

Bringing out the best in each other: Each of us is blessed with some unique talent which we cannot compare with others. There is no person in the world blessed with all the talents.
The terrific Ten: There were so many things during childhood days that are fun to us but not to our parents. We couldn't see any bad in that, but couldn't locate why our parents are not letting us do that.
The Wounded Player: Have you dramatized an ill-health to avoid any work? I'm pretty sure you must have once in your lifetime.Learn more from the story of Rashmi.
Dear parents, if your child is fond of reading stories or even if he/she is not, make him/her read such good books which could harbour values in them. The story I could relate more to my childhood days was 'Guilt'. There were so many such incidents happened when we are afraid to confront that our friend got injured because of us, although unintentionally. The theme that 'Guilt' holds really touched me. In a short story anthology, it is a rare case to find all to be your favourite. You may end up falling for some, while some just remain a story for you. It totally depends on your taste. So grab this book to find your best.
I would recommend this book to children aged 8-12. Gaurav has used simple language so that our little readers do not face difficulty to comprehend the stories. They are short, so the reader won't get bored, and can munch one story at a time.
